So we received our delivery yesterday and following on from our conversation earlier today, I just wanted to say what great service we had from Neil, your delivery driver!
We have regular deliveries and normally the products get dropped at the front of our driveway…apparently that’s as far as they can drop bulk items, but it would be fair to say Neil proved them wrong!! nicely tucked down our driveway to allow access for our vehicles.

I was very impressed by his friendly, helpful attitude, his driving in managing to reverse down our drive and his inch perfect positioning of 4 bags of mulch. The 30 mins notice text was much appreciated too.

Apsley Farms soil improver is excellent. Light and easy to spread. Over the last few years since I have been using it as a mulch on my raised beds at my allotment, there is no doubt that the soil structure has improved. I spread at least a 10-20cm layer on the beds in the early winter and very lightly fork it in to the surface immediately before seed sowing / planting out. But for potatoes, I simply use a large dibber to insert tubers through the mulch layer into the soil below.”

Faced with an awkward driveway and a pretty useless customer, Neil off loaded and stacked my bags of mulch just where I wanted them.

Due to recent illness, I was unable to decant a dumpy bag into small bags this year, as I usually do ( splits 3 ways).

All went pretty much according to plan and John & Jeff were very amenable and accommodating. Thank you Should we repeat the exercise next year perhaps we can request them as our drivers since they now know the vagaries of the locations and drive ways !!

Just a quick note to say how impressed I was by the driver who delivered my compost/ mulch. I asked him about the business and how it worked – he had it at his fingertips. You obviously run a pretty happy ship. Good luck with it.
Most of the compost is now well spread over the flower and veg beds, some in reserve and some for mixing with leaf mould and sand for potting compost. Assuming it all works I shall be back next year.
